Tracking egg production rate is one of the key performance indicators for your flock. Therefore, it is essential to log and track egg production of your flock over time.
When you track egg production it gives you a good idea of how your flock is performing. Moreover, it gives you an idea of what financial yields to expect, among other things.

Poultry farmers, such as yourself are a busy bunch. We should know, even if at the moment we are only doing backyard poultry.
As a result, doing daily flock data entries to Kukufarm can be difficult. That is because besides managing your poultry farm, you’re usually having to do other things.
Should you log poultry records daily?
The short answer: NO!
After talking to a number of poultry farmers, we realised that they do not log egg production data everyday, for various reasons.

As a result, initially we wanted to create a reminder in the app that would prompt them to make daily record entries. However, the general impression was that it is not that they forgot to make records everyday, they just didn’t have the time.
Yes, the records were there, in their heads, or on paper, but they were just too preoccupied with other things to actually make simple data entries no matter what method they used to keep poultry records.
Track egg production at your pace
Inescapably we realised that daily data logs were impractical. Farmers wanted to log data at their own time and pace, usually, data for a number of days, and not daily.

So we improved egg production log entries to enable farmers to backlog data from missed days. Moreover, this would enable them to skip days that they did not want to log data for.
Effectively, enabling farmers to track egg production at their own pace removes the need to make data entries on a daily basis. Moreover, it puts farmers at ease since they know that they can log data for several days in one sitting.
